‘Why the moon travels’ audiobook and exhibition

In partnership with Galway 2020 European City of Culture and with thanks to the Department of Justice and Equality for its support, we are delighted to launch Why the moon travels by Oein DeBhairduin as an audiobook along with an exhibition of the illustrations from the book.

Leanne is an accomplished artist who has hung numerous exhibitions across Ireland since her debut in 2015. Her work features in both private and public collections nationally and internationally.  For Why the moon travels she took inspiration from Oein’s retellings, which also reflect her own experiences of growing up a Traveller in Ireland, and created illustrations that represented flashbacks and reminiscences of these memories from her childhood.

All of Leanne McDonagh’s gorgeous illustrations are available to view and buy here accompanied by clips from the book, beautifully read by Cormac O’Sullivan.
