A beautiful event at the National Botanic Gardens
The sun came out for our event at the National Botanic Gardens last week with Oein DeBhairduin and Anne Burke.
It was so moving to hear Oein read from ‘Not yet with the ashes this ragged thing / Ni a gye a sloha a turpog inox’ and to see the scarves draped on the hawthorn tree. Huge thanks to the incredible Anne Burke for facilitating a conversation with Oein and with all of us around the ongoing impact of The Commission on Itinerancy Report, and the racism and discrimination that it engenders towards the Traveller Community.
This event was held in partnership with Dublin Book Festival and is part of a broader conversation curated by Oein with the Traveller community, which will be recorded and broadcast later this year by Skein Podcasts.
